Careline Support Personal Alarms

Here for you when you need us most

Careline Support personal alarms can be used at all times, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We offer emergency support services to help you live safe and independently. Both you and your family can be sure you are safe with friendly professionals ready to help should you need it.

What is a personal alarm?

Personal alarms are a type of assistive technology that provides support should you require it. Whichever personal alarm package you choose, you will be given a main alarm unit that will stay in one place within your home, and a portable, wearable device. Peripheral devices such as smoke detectors and fall detection devices are available to connect to your main alarm unit  for additional reassurance.

How does it work?

Press the button on your device when assistance is needed

If you have purchased peripheral devices such as smoke alarms or fall detectors, these will call through automatically when activated.

Careline will be immediately notified of your alarm activation

We aim to answer 97.5% of calls within 1 minute. If there is a short wait, an automated voice will confirm your call is in a queue.

Our expertly trained call operators will assist you

One of our Call Operators will assist you and, if required, will call your listed contacts or the emergency services.

Who is the alarm for?

Older people are more vulnerable, and therefore more likely to fall. This is especially relevant for those with a long-term health condition. Falls can cause injury, loss of confidence, and sometimes a person may feel less independent.

According to the NHS website:

  • 1 in 3 people over 65 will have at least one fall a year
  • 1 in 2 people over 80 will have at least one fall a year.

Not all falls will cause serious injury but we are here to support you throughout the incident and get you the assistance you require whilst reassuring you each step of the way.

Our caring team offers a variety of support, depending on your individual needs, which then enables you to continue living in your own home.

In the early stages of dementia, it is likely you will still be able to live at home and continue your independent lifestyle. You, or your family members, may feel at ease knowing that you have a trusted careline service to support you when you need. Getting a personal alarm could help you feel confident within your home and is a recommendation by the NHS

According to the NHS website:

  • 1 in 14 people over 65 have dementia.
  • 1 in 6 people over 80 have dementia.
  • There are currently 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK.

Dementia can impact many aspects of your life. Our Careline team are Dementia friendly, meaning they have a level of understanding as to how dementia can affect you and those around you. We will always get you the appropriate help for your situation and this may sometimes include calling family members to check on you.

If you have recently, or are due to be discharged from hospital, you may find you feel less independent within your home and require some additional support to regain your confidence. You may also feel you don’t want to ask for further assistance from your loved ones, or they may live a considerable distance from you. By having a personal alarm, we can organise relevant assistance for you at any time of the day or night as a constant reassurance to you. We will also hold whatever medical information you disclose to us to ensure we are passing relevant and up to date information to the emergency services when required

Supporting older family members can sometimes bring additional challenges to your daily life and this may result in stress. You may be worried about your family members’ ability to support themselves in the event of an emergency or you may just live a fair distance away and require some further peace of mind that they will get some help when it is required.

Our caring team offers a variety of support, depending on individual needs, which then enables your family member to continue living in their own home without any additional pressures that may also impact your life.

If you are concerned for an elderly neighbour and worry they may need additional support, a personal alarm may be the reassurance you need to feel confident they will get the help when it is required.

Our caring team offers a variety of support, depending on individual needs, which then enables your neighbours to continue living in their own home without any additional pressures. You will also have the option to be listed as an emergency contact.

Being an emergency contact

Following an alarm activation, as a contact you may be called by Careline to assist with support. This may include visiting the property and providing an update of circumstances. We may also ask you to provide reassurance, additional support or access for the emergency services if required. We recommend that you have access to the property by key or key safe, provided by the property owner.

We suggest that each user has three emergency contacts* to ensure there is an escalation route in case of unanswered calls, but also to provide sufficient support if a contact is away or unavailable.

*It is important to note that without being listed as an emergency contact, Careline Support Ltd will be unable to pass any information relating to customers or calls at any time.

How do I get set up as a contact?

As part of the initial information Careline Support will require to set up a personal alarm, we will ask for emergency contact information on the customer’s information form. Both you and your loved one must be happy for us to list you as an emergency contact. We would recommend the information provided on this form is checked for errors before submitting.

What information do I need to provide?

Careline Support will need your name and all contact numbers you have*.
If you live a fair distance from the alarm user, we recommend this information is also provided. All data will be held securely on our system and can only be accessed by our fully trained and skilled careline operators.

*If any of your information changes, please ensure you update us as soon as possible by emailing  [email protected].

When might I be contacted?

Careline Support could contact you following an alarm activation at any time day or night. If you have preference over the times you wish to be contacted, or are likely to be away for long periods, please let us know.

What if I am not available?

If you are unable to answer a call from us, we will attempt to call the other contacts or, if necessary, we will call the Emergency Services to arrange help.
